As I explained in my previous post, we’re finally started with the actual building process for our customized Whitaker Corners Barden Home.  We had our lot Rough Graded before we closed, so the obvious next step is digging the basement hole.  Our excavator, concrete guy, and GC were on-site to make sure everyone was on the same page.  It seemed to work out just fine, though it would be wise to ask your excavator and GC which one of them will be shooting the grade to ensure the hole is dug to the correct depth.  In our case, they each thought the other would be doing it.  It all worked out in the end, but our GC ended up spending the day on-site to help the excavator, which was a surprise to him.
